Edmonds Real Estate

For nine years in a row, the community of Edmonds has won the “Friendliest City” award in King TV's annual survey of Western Washington residents. This recognition is a significant achievement for an area that was simply a logging camp 100 years ago. Today, Edmonds is the oldest city in Snohomish County (it was incorporated in 1890) and the second largest (after Everett).

Located along the Puget Sound, Edmonds is now a thriving waterfront town, with a marina, fishing pier, popular beaches, and numerous parks. A diverse cross section of young and old live in Edmonds. A well-used senior center is complemented by an excellent school system and a growing community college. A comprehensive healthcare system and regional hospital helps Edmonds' nearly 40,000 residents remain self-contained.

Known throughout the region for its active participation in the arts, Edmonds has its own symphony, ballet companies, performance theatres, and historical society. A pedestrian-friendly shopping district showcases art galleries, antique dealers, and gift shops, with a café dotted here and there. Summertime festivals are the norm in Edmonds, including the regular Sunday Concerts in the Park. The Edmonds-Kinston ferries dock here, shuttling passengers and vehicles to and from neighboring communities on the Olympic Peninsula.

Family values, a strong sense of community, and all those friendly people await Edmonds real estate owners. Living here doesn't have to cost a fortune. There are plenty of small, older homes available for less than $300,000. New construction and larger homes with territorial views will typically cost in the $350,000 range. And homes in the prestigious Picnic Point neighborhood of Edmonds can cost up to $1M or more. The average single family home or condo sold for $389,838 in February 2006.

If you're looking for a home in a community where locals call each other by name – and is only 13 miles north of Seattle – consider buying Edmonds real estate.
