Puyallup Real Estate

For most people in the Pacific Northwest, the city of Puyallup is commonly known as the September site of the widely-attended Western Washington Fair. Yet, for the 36,000 residents who live here, Puyallup is much more than 4-H competitions, scones with jam, and kiddie rides.

The lure of a more relaxed way of life is why many people choose Puyallup as their home. The moderately priced real estate, beautiful parks system, and excellent schools contribute further to this area's appeal. The newly-built public library, large recreation center, public arts program, and year-round antique district are other amenities of this fine community. Located just 10 miles east of Tacoma and 35 miles south of Seattle, Puyallup continues to develop as supply meets demand.

In its early days, Puyallup was an agricultural community. Today, many of its original roots remain, even as the population increases. Each spring acres of daffodils are still a sight to behold as they bloom golden-yellow. The summertime Farmer's Market allows Puyallup farmers to share locally grown produce with the townspeople. And as you drive through the Puyallup countryside, the occasional horse pasture remains intact.

Yet, in the newer sections of Puyallup, homes, businesses, and shopping centers are springing up at a rapid pace. The South Hill area is a prime example. Here, fast food restaurants, a large shopping mall, and giant neighborhood cul-de-sacs have taken root. Even with this growth surge, Puyallup real estate has remained affordable, staying within a range of $185,000 - $800,000 depending on the type of property purchased. In February 2006, the average single family home or condo sold for $286,112.
