Seatac Real Estate

As the name implies, the city of SeaTac is situated between Seattle and Tacoma and is home to the Seattle Tacoma International Airport. What might not be as apparent is just how livable SeaTac is.

SeaTac is expected to grow an additional 60% over the next 25 years, due in part to affordable housing and a strong job market. Airport communities typically experience big business in the hotel market, retail trades, professional services area, restaurant work, and transportation. SeaTac is no exception; much of its labor force is employed by the airline industry and related businesses. The Boeing Company is also a key supplier of area jobs.

The SeaTac real estate market lists several homes on large lots for under $250,000. For less than $385,000, buyers can get newer construction in an excellent neighborhood with four bedrooms, two-and-one-half baths, and a 7,600 square foot lot. By Seattle's market standards, that's a lot of house – and land – for the price! The average home or condo sold for $308,344 in February 2006.

The SeaTac community leaders have tried hard to create a family friendly atmosphere by developing parks and recreation similar to other areas. Angle Lake Park has a public boat launch, barbecue area, and open recreation spaces. Grandview Park features an off-leash dog area. And the 165-acre North SeaTac Park boasts sporting fields, playground equipment, a community center, and the Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden.

As planes take off and land, one has to wonder if the airport noise becomes unbearable for SeaTac residents over time. According to one homeowner, it's not as bad as you might think. A small inconvenience, most people cope with the clatter using solid-core doors, triple-pane windows, and an extra layer of insulation.
