Shoreline Real Estate

A relatively new city, Shoreline incorporated in 1995 and its more than 53,000 residents state two main reasons why they enjoy living here: location and quality of life. As far a location goes, Shoreline is just 15 miles north of downtown Seattle, providing an easy commute to surrounding area jobs. Shopping centers, cultural activities, and all kinds of entertainment are readily available in every direction.

A high quality of life for Shoreline real estate owners begins with its educational system. The Shoreline School District is committed to helping each of its nearly 10,000 students reach their full potential. Shoreline students consistently score above state and national averages on standardized tests and nearly 85 percent of graduating seniors pursue further education. Strong parent and teacher involvement generates award-winning programs that promote student enrichment.

The Shoreline Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department oversees the development and maintenance of the city's 25 parks. It also offers recreation, aquatic, and cultural programs to the citizens of Shoreline. Indoor swimming, nature trails, and beach access are some amenities available within the parks system.

The Shoreline real estate market offers homes for nearly every budget. Although the average home price is in the $325,000 range, homes also sell in the low $200,000's. On the upper end of the Shoreline real estate spectrum, homes in The Highlands, a gated community in the southwest corner of the city, sell in the multi-million dollar range. The average sales price of a single family home or condo was $312,457 in February 2006.

Shoreline has very little undeveloped land so new construction isn't a common sight. However, the homes on the market make space for newcomers to live in this rare community offering a great location, top-notch schools, and friendly neighbors.
