Stanwood Real Estate

In the northernmost part of Snohomish County is the small community of Stanwood. Although Stanwood currently has less than 5,000 residents, more people are migrating to this area, which is only one hour north of Seattle. Fresh air, wide open spaces, and a growing city center are some of the reasons why Stanwood real estate is appealing.

Stanwood's past and present is steeped in agriculture. Twin City Foods, Stanwood's largest employer, is a national wholesaler of frozen vegetables. Alf Christianson Seed Company is one of the nation's largest independent seed growers. Both companies have been employment staples in the Stanwood area for many years. In addition, local produce is proudly presented during the summer months' Farmers Markets.

Stanwood's two golf courses – Kayak Point and Camaloch – deliver challenging recreation among natural beauty. The nearby 134-acre Camano Island State Park has camping facilities and 6,700 feet of rocky shoreline for beachcombing and shellfish harvesting. Fishermen delight in the surrounding lakes and rivers, where salmon, steelhead, Whitefish, and other species can be caught for dinner.

Residents enjoy the developing Stanwood-Camano Village located at the eastern edge of the city. Grocery stores, an athletic club, restaurants, and a movie theater are helping to bring larger community benefits to this rural setting.

Stanwood real estate has something for everyone – and in every price range. A small home with a partial territorial view is only $170,000. A 2,100 square foot home on 1/3 of an acre with sweeping sound and mountain views is a mere $360,000. And if lakeside living is your thing, you can pick up a gorgeous home on the shores of Lake Ketchum for just over half a million. In February 2006, the average single family home or condo sold for $322,447.
